UFI launches first UFI Asia-Pacific Week across 12 countries from 28
March to 1 April. It will showcase a week-long programme of activities
comprising a series of local events across the region, allowing members
and the wider community in Asia to meet in person.
UFI’s team in Hong Kong is working with UFI Ambassadors from China,
India, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Japan, among others, to
organise local gatherings and events such as charity runs, cocktail
receptions, dinners and cultural activities for the in-person
engagements.
According to UFI’s official blog, there will be about 12 in-country
volunteer ambassadors driving up event engagements. UFI Ambassador Noor
Ahmad Hamid, CEO of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau shared,
“Business events and exhibition activities reopened November 2021, and
this segment is recovering well. UFI Malaysia members will meet on 29
March to take part in a unique programme called ‘Jom Makan & Food
Donation Drive to network and enjoy good food in conjunction with
Informa’s FHM Food & Hotel Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur Convention
Centre."
“The industry in the region has not had the chance to come together
since 2019, at the UFI Asia-Pacific Conference in Tokyo and UFI Global
Congress in Bangkok. The pandemic has encouraged us all to think more
creatively, and the UFI Asia-Pacific Week will be a great way for our
community to gather locally and look ahead to better days,” said Mark
Cochrane, UFI’s regional director in Asia-Pacific who is leading the
initiative.
UFI’s CEO and MD Kai Hattendorf added, “Through our group of UFI
Ambassadors, participants can network and debate key issues facing our
changing industry in Asia and the world.”
Asia Pacific has the most UFI members, with some 350 organisations across 20 countries.
