Come 2028, Tokyo’s events will be positively buzzing with a series of acoustics and opera conferences.

The Japanese capital has secured the winning bid to host the 2028 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP 2028) from May 29 to June 2 at the Tokyo International Forum.

With the theme of “Smart and Sustainable Signal Processing for the Future”, ICASSP 2028 will bring in approximately 4,000 participants from around the world to attend the signal processing conference.

Beyond the conference, Tokyo will also be hosting the 3rd World Opera Forum, an international conference that will gather representatives from international opera organisations. The forum will be held at the New National Theatre.

“The decision to host the event in Tokyo underscores our rich artistic scene, with a dedication to both Western and Japanese forms, and will be a valuable opportunity for international delegates to sample Japan's cultural programmes,” said Business Events Tokyo in a statement. “We anticipate a lively gathering, attracting hundreds of participants to Tokyo from over 20 countries to discuss the art form's future.”
