Tokyo has secured the winning bid for the 2026 Conference of the Asia-Pacific Chapter of Extracorporeal Life Support Organisation (AP-ELSO 2026).
The ELSO helps develop and evaluate novel therapies to support failing organ systems, providing support to those delivering extracorporeal life support through continuing education, guidelines, original research and publications,
The 2026 event will mark the second time Japan will be hosting the organisation, with its 2015 conference having previously been held in Kyoto. Around 600 delegates are expected to attend next year’s event, taking place from June 12-14 at Hamamatsucho Convention Hall in Tokyo’s Central Business District.
The meeting will be hosted by the Asia Pacific Chapter of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization. According to Business Events Tokyo, Japan’s capital was deemed an ideal conference destination due to the country’s strong background in ELSO and Tokyo's excellent track record as an academic hub across medical fields. Significant in-kind and financial support from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau was also instrumental in the destination decision.
The convening of AP-ELSO 2026 in Tokyo is also expected to bring about a significant impact on academia and clinical fields both within Japan and the wider region.
