Thailand will be focusing on sustainability for the upcoming annual meeting.
Bangkok has been chosen as the host of the Asian Federation of
Exhibition and Convention Associations (AFECA) Annual General Meeting
(AGM) 2023, which will be held in October.
Themed ‘Asia Unites’, AFECA AGM 2023 is expected to bring 155 member
associations from 19 countries together to galvanise the region’s sector
in generating more business events, elevating businesses and
industries, and exploring more opportunities for growth.
On the agenda are discussions about building a platform for industry
leaders to share and transfer valuable knowledge that is in accordance
with AFECA philosophy of fostering long-term industrial relationships
among international peers; training domestic MICE entrepreneurs in order
to raise their profiles to the international level; and a networking
session between AFECA members and Thailand's MICE suppliers.
“This is another important event in MICE industry after the
International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) announced the
hosting of the AGM in Thailand in November,” said Chiruit Isarangkun Na
Ayuthaya, president of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau.
What AFECA AGM 2023 also represents is Thailand’s opportunity to
demonstrate its potential as a leading MICE destination, increasing the
chance to attract new international exhibitions.
Thailand will be focusing on sustainability in AFECA AGM 2023, and
the destination will be supporting and advocating for the use of locally
and sustainably sourced materials for the event.
Additionally, TCEB will be coming up with a policy for creating measurable impacts from events.
“Thailand has always been an important MICE destination in Asia and
at the forefront on developing the Asian MICE industry,” commented AFECA
president Vincent Lim. “I believe that with the support from TCEB,
AFECA AGM 2023 would be a platform for Asian MICE leaders to continue
raising the profile of Asian MICE industry in the global stage and will
also definitely be a marvellous experience for all members.”
