The Malaysia-China Summit 2024 (MCS 2024), which is taking place in Kuala Lumpur at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre from 17-19 December this week, has emerged as a premier platform for fostering trade, investment, and innovation in ASEAN.
Built around the theme “Prosperity Beyond 50”, MCS 2024 is organised by Qube Integrated Malaysia in collaboration with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) to commemorate 50 years of Malaysia-China diplomatic ties.
The event spans a three-day international trade and investment expo, a two-day leadership conference, and a series of forums highlighting over 20 key industries, including renewable energy, digital technology, electric mobility, and advanced manufacturing.
Exhibitors from Malaysia and China presented cutting-edge technologies and innovations, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and showcasing the next generation of solutions. Business-matching sessions, organised under Matrade’s International Sourcing Programme (INSP), facilitated 610 meetings between 200 Malaysian exporters and nearly 100 international buyers from 12 countries.
MCS 2024 is expected to attract over 11,000 visitors, including 5,700 international delegates, with an estimated economic impact of RM178 million (US$40 million). As the grand finale of a year-long celebration, the event projects RM2 billion in trade and investment opportunities, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a strategic partner for China and ASEAN, according to Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), a supporter of the event.
MCS 2024 has also garnered robust support from sponsors and partners, reflecting the summit's significance in enhancing regional collaboration. Official sponsors included Huawei Technologies Malaysia and Petroliam Nasional (Petronas), alongside corporate sponsors Berjaya Food and DSR Taiko.
Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, chairman of Matrade, emphasised the importance of these partnerships. “We are grateful to all our sponsors and strategic partners whose support underlines the significance and magnitude of this summit,” he said in a statement.
