Shanghai exhibition scales new heights

Thousands of guests are expected to visit the expo, taking place at venues across the city.

The Tourism Plus Shanghai expo (TPS2025), taking place across four main exhibition centres this week in the Chinese city, is expected to attract at least 450,000 visitors from more than 140 countries and regions worldwide.

This is according to event organisers Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, Shanghai Sinoexpo Informa Markets International Exhibition Co. and Shanghai International Convention & Exhibition Co. The event is being co-sponsored by China Tourism Association.

TPS2025, which runs from 30th March to the 3rd April, showcases innovation within the global tourism industry. It features five cluster exhibitions located on four main exhibition centres in Shanghai, and spans 700,000 square meters of total exhibition area. It features15 industrial categories and 68 exhibition sections with over 6,000 exhibitors, eight lifestyle festivals, 22 international and domestic competitions and more than 300 conferences and live events.

Organisers say TPS2025 will debut thousands of new products globally and promote the quality and innovation of Shanghai's tourism industry.

Supported by four exhibition centers located in both Pudong and Puxi, TPS2025 aims to promote the integration of specific industries and tourism. The exhibitions include HOTELEX, the Shanghai International Hospitality Equipment & Food service Expo, focused on hospitality, food and beverage, coffee and tea, chain and franchise, and other industries; Tourism Plus Shanghai 2025 and China (Shanghai) International Boat Show and The Lifestyle Show Shanghai 2025, focusing on tourism and healthcare, the boat industry, outdoor leisure and other industries.

Hotel & Shop Plus-Shanghai International Hotel, Shop, Office and Public Space Expo, focuses on architectural decoration and commercial design; Modern Concept World Expo, newly-launched this year, explores art and visual display industry.

Immersive exhibitions are also taking place, themed around the metaverse and sport, food and wine and balloon art, while other topics under discussion include scientific and technological empowerment, with a focus on robotics.
