Sarawak is hosting the Asia Carbon Conference 2023, the first industry
leadership conference for carbon offsetting and trading in Asia.
Taking
place from 15-16 March at the Pullman Hotel in Kuching, Sarawak, the
event aims to set the tone for policy-making, investment opportunities
and new technologies in the carbon market. Organised by Argus Media, it
is being hosted in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and
Environmental Sustainability Sarawak, and supported by Business Events
Sarawak.
The two-day conference, expected to attract around 400 delegates,
will feature global subject matter experts from more than nine
countries, sharing insights on the regulatory framework on carbon
markets as well as the future of the Asia Pacific carbon market.
There will also be discussions on the importance of carbon
initiatives in managing climate change and a focus on carbon capture,
usage and storage (CCUS), with discussions on Sarawak’s CCUS
developments, how investors and developers can build a sustainable CCUS
industry and analysing CCUS project prospects in Asia.
Key speakers include Francois Blignaut, carbon project lead at
SaraCarbon, who will be discussing a case study of developing and
launching a nature based voluntary carbon offset (VCO) project in Asia,
and Wan Sayuti Wan Hussin, head of strategy & policy at Petronas,
who will be discussing how big energy is approaching carbon as a
supplier, buyer, and solution provider.
