According to SITE Thailand president Paula (Punnaporn) Wongjunpen (centre), these MoUs expand MICE education opportunities across the country and represent the association’s investment in the next generation.
SITE Thailand has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with five universities and academic clusters across Thailand, expanding MICE education opportunities across the destination.
SITE Thailand, the country chapter of the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), is strengthening its MICE thought leadership credentials across Southeast Asia. It wants to prioritise academic collaboration and talent development to ensure the industry’s future workforce is equipped with globally relevant skills and knowledge.
The five MoUs, established over the last year across the North, Northeast, Central, and Eastern regions of the country, promote academic-industry integration through collaborative curriculum development, research, student engagement and hands-on learning experiences.
The first agreement was signed with Chiang Mai University in March 2024, with two MoUs following in October with Nakhon Ratchasima Convention Exhibition Center and CEMBEI, the Centre of Excellence for MICE and Business Events Industry at Khon Kaen University. The two remaining MoUs were finalised this year. They include an agreement with the Central MICE Academic Cluster and the Center of MICE and Event Education and Innovation at the Faculty of Management Science at Silpakorn University, signed in March, and an MoU with the Eastern MICE Academic Cluster and Burapha University, finalised in January.
SITE Thailand president Paula (Punnaporn) Wongjunpen, who is also CEO of Paula & Co DMC Thailand, said: “People are the heart of MICE. These MoUs represent our investment in the next generation – ensuring they’re not only well-educated but globally connected and industry-ready.”
SITE Thailand added that through these alliances, it will continue to lead educational innovation and open global pathways for Thai students and MICE professionals. Collaborative activities, including guest lectures, workshops, student programmes and industry research, will be rolled out throughout 2025.
