Constellar, the managing operator of Singapore EXPO, has partnered with ESGpedia, an ESG data and technology company, to implement digital carbon emissions tracking for MICE events held at the venue.
Constellar will use ESGpedia’s digital solutions for sustainability reporting and carbon accounting to measure and report the carbon emissions of events.
The partnership also extends to sustainability enablement for Constellar’s suppliers, many of which are SMEs, helping them adopt digital solutions for carbon accounting and reporting.
Through ESGpedia’s platform, Constellar will be able to calculate the full scope of event-related GHG emissions – including attendee travel, accommodation, venue operations, food and beverage supply chains, and waste management – providing data-driven insights to guide its decarbonisation strategy and improve operational efficiency.
The system also enables the swift generation of emissions reports aligned with international sustainability frameworks.
In Singapore, as part of the MICE Sustainability Roadmap launched by the Singapore Tourism Board and the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers, the industry is required to track waste and emissions to align with the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and the nation’s 2050 net-zero goal.
With the growing importance of measuring, tracking and reporting, Singapore EXPO – the country’s largest purpose-built MICE venue and a sustainability champion – previously also implemented a system that collects food waste, weighs it, and breaks it down into greywater.
Chua Wee Phong, Group CEO of Constellar, said: “Our collaboration with ESGpedia empowers event organisers to calculate carbon footprints and engage suppliers digitally, fostering a united approach toward shared sustainability goals.”
