The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MTAC) Sarawak and the Board of Directors (BOD) of Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) has appointed Amelia Roziman as new chief executive officer, starting 1 August.

The new CEO has more than 20 years of experience in branding and marketing, 15 years of which in the business events industry, and was also a pioneering member of BESarawak in 2006 where she started as a sales coordinator.

In her new role, Roziman is tasked to sharpen the local business events industry through developing, bidding and hosting events as part of Sarawak's 10-year PCDS (Post Covid-19 Development Strategy) 2030 plan to use business events as an economic and social thrust.

“I have always wanted to have an active role in making a difference to my homeland, Sarawak," said Roziman.

Referring to PCDS 2030's inclusion of legacy planning, which guides planners on long-term legacy goals, she added that "being one of the contributors in developing the PCDS... has given me an amazing opportunity to integrate my personal and professional goals and take Sarawak to another level in developing this industry".

“The support and guidance given by my team, family, former CEOs, board members; not forgetting to mention the local, national, and international industry and stakeholders has made me what I am today. Together we can make a difference to our industry, state, country and ultimately, the world."
