With the dynamic landscape of events, constant change brings about new opportunities, and staying informed and aligned with the current trends is crucial for event planners to deliver best experiences. Ovation Global DMC shares tips on what trends are driving the MICE industry this year:

Non-traditional event spaces

Gone are the days of cookie-cutter conference rooms and traditional ballrooms. Now creativity meets functionality where event planners are opting for unconventional venues such as art galleries, rooftop gardens, and industrial warehouses, which add a unique touch while encouraging innovation.

Renewed focus on networking

The increasingly virtual world has underscored the importance of face-to-face networking. We are seeing a renewed focus on networking opportunities within events with dedicated networking sessions, and interactive workshops to facilitate meaningful connections among attendees.

Programme shift

Events in 2024 bring a shift towards motivational and immersive programmes. Events are no longer limited to the conference room, and planners are adding in interactive and collaborative experiences, where diversity and inclusion take center-stage. From diverse speaker lineups to inclusive event design, industry professionals are recognising the importance of creating spaces that cater to a broad spectrum of attendees.

Local connection

Participants are no longer content with merely attending events; they want to immerse themselves in the local community. Event planners are responding by integrating local elements into their programmes, offering authentic experiences that go beyond the event venue.

APAC cities in the spotlight

The Incentive Travel Index reveals that 71% of participants are actively seeking new destinations for their events. As a result, we have seen an increase in interest in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, specifically Fiji, Thailand, and Vietnam. APAC cities are in demand, offering modern infrastructure, cultural richness, and diverse landscapes. The Incentive Travel Index predicts a substantial expansion in incentive activities in APAC by 2025, making it a hotspot for MICE professionals.
