Informa Markets has achieved an Age Inclusive Accreditation in
partnership with 55/Redefined. The latter helps companies to attract,
grow and engage over 50s talent.
Launched in 2021, 55/Redefined is dedicated to celebrating the aims,
understanding the needs, and helping to address the challenge of ageism.
55/Redefined has created an accreditation that secures commitment from
organisation leaders to make recruitment processes more inclusive, and
to invest in training and re-skilling of the over-50 age group.
Informa Markets has a workforce of over 4,000 colleagues, located
across more than 30 countries and who span five generations. Mike Sealy,
VP of diversity, equity and inclusion for Informa Markets, said: “In
this competitive landscape, creating an inclusive environment where
colleagues can thrive is essential to attract and retain top talent. At
Informa Markets, we recognise that one of the keys to success is
harnessing the unique perspectives and experiences of colleagues from
all age groups.
“Age diversity is not about putting up with each other’s differences,
it’s about embracing them and learning from them. Our partnership with
55/Redefined will help us to promote age inclusivity by fostering
cross-generational collaboration, leading to a more inclusive and
respectful workplace.”
Since its launch last September, the partnership is slowly evolving
and is becoming accredited as it continues to roll out its hiring
manager training with an age focus, and to train its talent acquisition
teams. “We have also started advertising some of our open roles on
55/Redefined job site,” added Sealy.
55/Redefined has presence in Hong Kong and China and discussions are
planned together with Andy Luk, senior VP of HR and corporate
communications, Informa Markets Asia, to extend the initiative to
locations in Hong Kong and China, said Sealy.
Informa Markets' Age Inclusive Accreditation means it plays a leading
role in changing attitudes for the better and challenging age
discrimination. To achieve accreditation, the company had to commit to
the following actions:
- Ensuring recruitment practices are inclusive and accessible to workers over 50
- Communicating and promoting vacancies fairly
- Reviewing HR handbooks and policies relating to retirement
- Investing in technical training and reskilling of colleagues aged over 50.
Sealy said: “We understand that age inclusivity is not limited to a
specific age group and in addition to this age inclusivity
accreditation, we are committed to supporting colleagues of all ages
throughout their career journey.”
Last year, the company hosted IMX Live: All In, a day-long
all-colleague event, aimed to help colleagues reflect, inspire and
celebrate diversity and inclusion at work.
