M&C Asia: What significant meeting trends are you observing in APAC, and what’s driving them?

Meetings and events in Asia Pacific have bounced back faster than anticipated, driven by eagerness to reconnect face-to-face with colleagues and clients. While domestic meetings dominated last year, we're now seeing more international events towards late 2024 and 2025 as air connectivity improves. Customers are looking to hold events in places like Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

The pandemic's blurring of work-life boundaries fuelled the rise of 'bleisure' travel combining business and leisure. Corporate attendees opting for bleisure stays are more likely to attend events where they can enjoy personal downtime after their work commitments. This bleisure trend is here to stay, reflected in guests seeking longer 3-4 night stays up from 1-2 nights previously. As such, we're evolving our World of Hyatt loyalty program to support these 'bleisure' needs.

M&C Asia: Have you noticed any changes in event planners' objectives and priorities?

Sustainability is now an expectation for many event attendees, and our corporate clients want support achieving their organisations' green goals. This aligns with Hyatt's purpose grounded in care and our global commitment to caring for the planet. For instance, each Hyatt hotel is working to reduce its environmental footprint, from reducing the use of single use plastic to cutting food waste and saving energy.

Our customers also appreciate and look to us for support for wellbeing in meetings and events of every scale, providing participants with opportunities to unwind, recharge, and refresh.

M&C Asia: How is Hyatt integrating wellness and sustainability into unique meeting offerings?

We established an exclusive global partnership with Headspace since 2020 to provide a curated, meaningful variety of mindfulness experiences via our World of Hyatt app, for our colleagues as well as our World of Hyatt members.

Our hotels in Australia and New Zealand, for instance, have rolled out holistic sleep experience through a custom-design Sleep at Hyatt Ritual Pack to offer sleep ritual packs and glasses to mitigate device light for a refreshing night's sleep.

Last year we launched Wellbeing Collective, a curated collection of Hyatt properties that offer tailored wellbeing experience to meet the specific needs of travellers, including groups of all sizes and meeting attendees. The Wellbeing Collective features over 30 Hyatt hotels globally with tailored wellness experiences for groups, expanding further in 2024.

For sustainability, Together by Hyatt supports eco-friendly meetings through thoughtful menus, minimising waste, paperless options, and transparency on environmental impact. Integrated technology streamlines virtual, hybrid, and in-person experiences while rewarding loyal planners and partners.

Our own World of Hyatt app is also increasingly an important touchpoint for guests and clients alike, from enabling users to check-in in advance, provide a digital key for access to their room, and tap into wellbeing services.

World of Hyatt is evolving to reward those who make travel happen for others – specifically eligible meeting and event planners, travel advisors, and small business administrators – offering new pathways for these critical business stakeholders to earn status and milestones when they choose Hyatt for their clients and colleagues.
