Attending the Singapore Airshow? Here's what you need to know

Asia's biggest aviation event, the Singapore Airshow returns to the Lion City this 15-18 February 2022, albeit with a smaller audience, strict Covid-safe protocols, and sans public days for locals.

For pre-registered and pre-approved attendees, it'll be back to business as usual at the Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC) from 15-18 February 2022.

Open only to the trade, this year's edition is expected to welcome some 360 companies including Boeing, Airbus and Lockheed Martin among other industry players.

On top of a hosted buyers programme, the event also runs the Singapore Airshow VIP Delegation Programme, playing host to high-level delegations, including those from the military, government and commercial sectors.

The event comes on the heels of major global border re-openings, and Singapore's vision to return as an international aviation and aerospace hub.

Who can go?

Only trade professionals who have pre-registered and received their pre-approved notifications from the organiser may join the event.

There will be no public day programmes, but there will be once-daily livestreaming sessions available for a total of eight flying displays and flypasts from four air forces and two commercial companies. Click here to view.

What protocols do I need to follow?

Attendees must be fully vaccinated with World Health Organisation Emergency Use Listing (EUL) Covid-19 vaccines, and must undergo daily Pre-Event Testing (PET) for entry into the Airshow.

Other regular Covid-safe rules such as mask wearing, safe distancing (1 metre), and use of the TraceTogether App is compulsory.

Unlike the Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific 2021, the most recent largest in-person exhibition which just wrapped up in November, the Singapore Airshow will not require attendees to carry around the dongle-looking Safe Events Tool.

I heard there's a different PET protocol for local and international delegates?

There will be daily supervised testing for foreign delegates, while locals will be able to upload their PET results directly onto a Health Promotion Board website.

The Ministry of Health approved Covid-19 test providers (for foreign attendees staying in each respective hotels) are: Pan Pacific Hotel, Mandarin Oriental, J. W. Marriott, Carlton, Fairmont, Intercontinental Robertson Quay, M Social, One Farrer, Park Royal Collection Marina Bay, Voco Orchard, as well as Raffles Medical Group, and Singapore Expo Hall 5.

Will there be F&B served?

Yes, but food must be individually packed or served, and only at specific designated dining areas. No intermingling is allowed during meal times, and masks must be back on once done with meals.

Which forums can we attend?

There are two: the inaugural Aviation CEO Forum with panelists including organiser Experia, and aviation media player FlightGlobal; and the Sustainable Aviation Forum in partnership with Alton Aviation Consultancy. Both are by-invite only.

What are the various sections to explore?

Apart from the outdoor exhibition and static aircraft display, the exhibition hall has so far 11 confirmed country pavilions showcasing groundbreaking technologies and capabilities from across aerospace and defence sectors.

In addition, buyers and sellers have the option of doing business at the exclusive hospitality chalet area — in single-storey and double-storey configurations — which also offers views of the flying display.

To nurture the next generation of talents across students to NSFs and job seekers, the 4th edition of AeroCampus also makes a return this year. The virtual event will expose higher education opportunities and latest technologies available in the aerospace sector.
