MALAYSIA – Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) has announced a trio of new initiatives to kickstart the business events industry, including enhanced incentives for event organisers.

With domestic events of up to 250 people now permitted to take place in Malaysia, the forward-thinking bureau unveiled its latest campaign by hosting its very first hybrid event, Tribal Gathering 2020, which took place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching — and online — on 09 July.

Upon unveiling the Tribe Legacy campaign, BESarawak acting CEO, Amelia Roziman, said the unity of Sarawakian industry partners will “serve as the leading factor to a sustainable business events ecosystem”.

As well as helping to train and upskill local industry players, Tribe Legacy includes a range of new incentive schemes that event planners can tap into, namely the BESLegacy Reward Programme and BESTribe Reward Programme.

BESarawak will also launch Tribe Digital Xchange, a virtual roadshow and B2B platform for industry partners to present their latest products and services.

At the event, Sarawak’s assistant minister for tourism, arts and culture, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew stated that the ministry will support BESarawak to ensure that all business event organisers and partners are “geared towards the reset factor”.

He also stated that the combination of new safety standards and incentivised packages will help the domestic business events sector thrive in a post-Covid world.
