Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) lays the foundation for the
future of MICE with the signing of an MoU with Curtin University to
establish the International Journal of Business Events and Legacies.
BESarawak
changes the knowledge quotient for MICE with the journal. It would be
the first research publication in South East Asia to focus on business
events and the first in the world specific to business events and
legacies.
The availability of comprehensive research materials on MICE is
lacking, with just nine journals that covers the individual aspects of
business events. But none of the journals have reviewed all sectors of
the MICE industry, including corporate meetings and incentives.
The International Journal of Business Events and Legacies will
highlight pressing contemporary issues that affect business events and
legacies. It will feature strategies, case studies and viewpoints on
events planning and delivery.
As Malaysia’s borders re-open and the MICE industry shifts gears from
domestic to international, there is also a need to look long-term at
attracting and retaining new talents to the industry. The journal will
serve as a valuable resource for industry students, practitioners,
researchers and policymakers to understand the relationship between
hosting business events and correlating activities such as economics,
entrepreneurship, hospitality, management, marketing and tourism.
Said BESarawak’s CEO Amelia Roziman, “Business events are rich in
many ways and we want the journal to reflect that wealth. Association
and incentive events are superb economic drivers that deliver
cutting-edge knowledge, solutions and innovation to drive social,
sectoral, environmental and political developments.”
Amelia added that BESarawak will be signing an MOU with the
International Convention & Congress Association (ICCA) at IMEX
Frankfurt this year. “Global partnerships with ICCA and similar
associations will give the journal added international recognition.”
The International Journal of Business Events and Legacies is backed
by international associations such as the Professional Convention
Management Association and ICCA as well as local associations.
