Travel and event industry leaders come together in the Singapore Tourism Board’s (STB) new forum series, SingapoReimagine Global Conversations, to outline new travel experiences and business models geared towards the post-pandemic traveller.
The first Reimagine Experiences forum, which aired on 8 September, gathered experts across sectors to outline new traveller profiles, how digitalisation will impact future travel experiences, and new tourism concepts.
The launch episode revealed three key traveller personas identified by global trend forecaster and data partner WGSN. The personas are:
• The Wander Must – an early adopter of technology and digital experiences who is ready to rediscover the joys of travelling. They include business and MICE travellers, as well as workcationers. As well, a PCMA survey noted increased travel optimism across event planners from 48% in January 2021, to 69% in June.
• The Mindful Explorer – a nature and outdoor lover who is conscious of environmental issues and is likely to make sustainable choices and seeks meaningful connections with the community. They include outdoor enthusiasts, where travellers will increasingly opt for train, boat and road trips.
• The Slow Pacer – a traveller who places importance on rejuvenation, and seeks wellness destinations to enhance physical, emotional and mental well-being. They include business and MICE travellers, as well as wellness seekers.
The series comprises three key forums, with overseas adaptations. The Reimagine Experiences forum is available on-demand, with a series of four episodes to be released weekly on STB’s website and YouTube channel. Episode 1, 'Understanding the New Traveller', is currently available.
The following two forums will focus on the themes of travel journeys as well as sustainability and wellness, scheduled to be introduced later this year and in the first half of 2022.
