Phuket Hotels Association is playing up the island's capabilities as a business events destination with a new campaign "Business Meets Beach".
The campaign, a coalition of 70 member hotels, will highlight the island destination's world-class facilities and natural scenery. Through the campaign, Phuket Hotels Association aims to double MICE expenditure by 2020.
Planners will also be able to incorporate local experiences into their events, from culture to CSR activities, sightseeing excursions and offshore adventures and shopping trips.
Anthony Lark, president of Phuket Hotels Association wants the island to be known "more than simply a venue for meetings and events".
"With its rare combination of stunning scenery and outstanding indoor and alfresco MICE venues, Phuket has everything that professional planners could wish for," said Lark.
"It is a giant canvas on which guests can paint their own stories, themed on Phuket's rich local culture and heritage. This is what makes our island truly special," Lark added.
"It is also worth remembering that every meeting delegate is also a potential FIT guest who could return with their own family. So by working together and showcasing Phuket's many attractions, we can create a prosperous future not only for the MICE sector, but for the island's wider tourism industry," he added.
Planners can also benefit from a new promotion, "Stay Free" that offers a complimentary third night accommodation at 19 hotels across the island, as well as a complimentary cocktail reception. The promotion is valid for groups of 40 and above, until October 31.
The campaign will be promoted through marketing activities, social media updates and familiarisation trips for the trade and media throughout 2019 and 2020.
