MyCEB's Abdul Khani Daud has been awarded with a Doctor of Creative Arts (PhD) by the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA).
Dato’ Sri Dr Abdul Khani Daud, CEO of Malaysia Convention &
Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has been awarded with a Doctor of Creative
Arts (PhD) by the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage
(ASWARA).
An industry veteran, Abdul Khani graduated with two MBAs, one from
the Institute of Technology Technology Australia and the other from
Oxford Learning Centre of Excellence in the UK. He started his career
with Tourism Malaysia and has taken on various prominent positions. He
was posted as an overseas director to oversee global markets which
included stints at Tourism Malaysia’s offices in Australia, Singapore,
South Africa and Thailand.
His expertise in marketing resulted in an increase of 60% in tourist
arrivals from Singapore between 2000 to 2004. During his service period
from 2004 to 2006, a 45% growth for Latin America was recorded, opening
the market for Argentina.
Abdul Khani also devised MyCEB’s Malaysia Business Events Strategic
Marketing Plan (SMP) 2021-2030, which has set out plans for business
events to attract 5.9 million delegates by 2030, contributing to RM42.12
billion in estimated economic impact whilst creating around 25,833
total job opportunities.
Abdul Khani said: “I would like to express my deep and sincere

Hussin as well as our second supervisor Dr Hafizul Fahri bin Hanafi, for
giving me the opportunity to do research and providing invaluable
guidance throughout this research. Their dynamism, vision, sincerity,
and motivation have deeply inspired me.”
Abdul Khani has also held other roles, including ICCA Board of
Directors Representative for Asia Pacific Region, Advisory BOD Member
for the Asian Federation of Exhibition & Convention Associations
(AFECA), Advisory Board Member for MACEOS, Board of Trustee for Islamic
Tourism Centre, Adjunct Professor at Taylor’s University, and Advisor,
International Journal of Business Events & Legacies at Curtin
University Malaysia, to name a few. He was also recently awarded the
‘Business Events Personality’ by MACEOS.
