Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC)'s newly-opened multi-purpose extension has opened for business as it hosts its inaugural event this week.
The entire centre, including the 11,000-sqm extension, will be hosting the annual Archidex conference from July 2 to 7.
The addition of the new extension introduces flexible spaces for new meeting layouts and networking hubs, customisable to suit events. One of the highlights includes an expansive foyer area adjoining the Plenary Hall, which can be extended to Hall 6 to provide an additional 2,862-sqm. There's also an additional hospitality suite and a lounge for Hall 6, 7 and 8.
"There is a demand for greater efficiencies and more creative choices when it comes to delivering experiential events. To help create a truly innovative space, we listened to our customers," said Alan Pryor, general manager of KLCC.
"Our expansion gives our team the flexibility to provide customisable event solutions that deliver greater value to our clients and their participants," Pryor added.
Archidex, one of the centre's longstanding events, has been held at the centre since 2005.
"The journey so far has seen our event grow from almost 10,000sqm of exhibition space to over 30,000sqm this year," said Dato' Vincent Lim, president of C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd, the organiser of Archidex.
"We are excited to have the new purpose-built extension to accommodate the growing magnitude of our exhibition. The additional space has given us more options to embrace innovative ideas for our exhibition as a whole," he added.
The centre has confirmed a line-up of at least 10 upcoming events that will utlise the new extension.
