This is where Macao has the track record and the facilities to make it perfect. Whether they are professional and experienced event organisers, world-class venues, high-tech facilities or flawless service and easy logistics, the mechanics of creating a ground-breaking medical event works smoothly time after time.

Macao's pipeline of new and recently opened hotels dazzle with technology, creativity and service

Choosing Macao will show your delegates how highly valued they are. The city's eye-catching, service-oriented and high-tech hotels feature over 37,000 spacious and stylish rooms and suites, over 190,000sqm of MICE facilities offering personalised service with cutting-edge technology, and restaurants showcasing cuisines from east and west. To drive higher delegate attendance, choose Macao.

"Macao offers many advantages when organising MICE activities. The hardware and software facilities, as well as the services the city provides, can satisfy even the most demanding international academic conventions," said Ao Yingfang, chairman of the International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS) - China Division. This April, the globally influential academic organisation dedicated to the international research of joint and cartilage injury and clinical treatment, trusted Macao to hold their 14th World Congress featuring 1,100 delegates, experts and academics.

Innovative support wins over mega groups

ICRS discovered that the innovative and state-of-the-art use of technology in Macao's MICE facilities puts the city at the forefront of its competitors in Asia. Organisations like ICRS looking to showcase their achievements, especially in the field of technology, are able to deliver their message in the most pertinent and impactful ways.

"Our goal was to introduce the latest technology to our clinical practice in order to provide even better facilities and services for our patients," said Ao. "This event provided a great platform for our orgainsation to demonstrate its level of professional development, and also a chance for the world to understand more about us, about China and Macao."

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) is dedicated to supporting MICE visitors who choose the city for their events with a variety of programs and benefits, with ICRS one of many companies to benefit.

"IPIM's participation in our preparation for the event was incomparable with other regions," says Ao. ICRS took advantage of the One-stop Service. "In the preparatory stage of the congress we experienced firsthand IPIM's strong event planning support  including policy and financial support.  This is very encouraging for international convention organisers. We don't see similar incentives in other regions."

Even more convenient

Connectivity is key to opening doors for Macao

A highly convenient destination for international and regional travel, Macao is located at the entry point of Asia's economic powerhouse, linked directly to mainland China and Hong Kong, and within five hour's flight time to over three billion people. The soon-to-be-opened Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge dramatically enhances Macao's accessibility to the rest of the world, with direct road access to major population centres and one of the world's busiest airports.

"The upcoming inauguration of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is very exciting," says Ao. "The Bridge is going to be a good foundation for us to host activities as many of our guests transferred through Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Our foreign guests all look forward to travelling on the new bridge. Its launch not only facilitates academic exchange, it brings significant impetus to the societal and economic development of the area."

A UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, Macao's colorful blend of Chinese and Portuguese cultures along with other international influences provides a truly unique dining experience, whether it be in a Michelin-star restaurant, a local neighbourhood establishment or on the menu of a conference gala dinner.

"For us, dining is a very important element when holding large conventions, and Macao is significantly better than most countries," said Ao. "When attending academic activities or exhibitions in other countries, it is often difficult to find a place to eat. In Macao we found it very convenient to organise meals thanks to Macao's thoughtful arrangements and capabilities."

Service beyond expectation

Having a good mix of youthful, experienced, well-trained and multilingual personnel in the service industry, alongside an inherent hospitality culture, Macao offers both a refreshing and highly professional service delivery.

"The Chinese saying, "Details determine success or failure," perfectly captures the quality of Macao's service delivery," says Ao. "I believe the city's thoughtful and inclusive service has allowed all our guests to experience Macao's, and China's, authentic spirit and culture. Such engagement has a lasting impression on delegates and they become roaming ambassadors for Macao long after returning to their home city."
