Meetings is not a sexy word. Despite business events becoming more dynamic and creative in recent years, the idea of travelling for hours just to be coped up in a function room is not appealing.

To capture the attention and hearts of attendees, top business destinations are increasingly expected to offer more than just quality facilities, venues and service providers.

By virtue of its popularity among international business and incentive organisers, Singapore has become particularly good at marketing its image.

And it has the accolades to prove it. 'Asia's Top Convention City' (ICCA 2015), 'Top International Meeting City' (UIA 2015) and 'Top Asia Pacific Destination' in the inaugural CVENT round up of 25 best Asia Pacific destinations 2016… the list goes on.

To keep Singapore top-of-mind in the M&I space, STB is constantly refreshing its offerings to reveal its lighter, vibrant side.

These include world-class attractions such as Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO Heritage Site, homegrown international leisure event, and arguably the most renowned of all - the futuristic Gardens by the Bay whose reputation travels far and wide.

Singapore Tourism Board (STB) also facilitates the customisation of itineraries, according to Jeannie Lim, executive director, conventions, meetings & incentive travel, STB.

She said, "An example is our INSPIRE programme which offers visitors unique thematic tours on topics ranging from food to fengshui, or cocktail experiences in iconic venues. These efforts collectively help to differentiate Singapore as a top MICE destination where business is complemented with exceptional experiences."
