SINGAPORE - Staycation deals are drawing some traction in hotels such as Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa. Its most popular uptake has been its food and wellness-focused 'Retreat To Sanctuary' package, according to the resort's assistant director of sales, Mr Jason Yap.

He estimates that the resort has sold more than 500 of such packages. Since it rolled out its three staycation packages, the resort has been seeing an uplift of business on weekends, with occupancy reaching 60% and above. This has helped the resort tide over its low occupancy on weekdays.

The package offers guests a chance to recharge at its idyllic resort setting, which is seated atop a cliff on the southern-most tip of Sentosa. It also includes culinary inclusions such as breakfast and dinner, a bottle of wine and an hour of massage for two persons. It will be running its promotion until the end of June.

According to Mr Yap, this has been the most popular option especially for local guests who have been looking for alternative vacation options without travelling out of the country.

The second option has sold more than 100 rooms - offering a full-board breakfast, lunch, dinner and activities for families at S$338 per night.

The resort also offers a third package for day-visitors - perks include full access to spa facilities, set lunch, a bottle of prosecco or free-flow beer, and a one-hour massage, priced at S$128. Guests will be able to visit from noon to 6pm.

Capella Singapore's staycation deal offers a discounted stay paired with a rum appreciation class for two as well as breakfast at The Knolls, its all-day Mediterranean restaurant.

The hotel is offering guests 20% off its best available room rate for stays through to 30 June plus S$100 dining credits, which can be used at its restaurants or in-room dining during the stay (excluding its set menu).

On Orchard Road, Hilton Singapore is beefing up its staycation experience with a new 'Steak-Cation' package which includes a stay, buffet breakfast and signature dinner at Opus, free Wi-Fi, late-check out and a half-price discount on body massage. The package is priced from S$390 (US$268) per night and runs through to 31 May 2020.

The Opus Bar & Grill is one of the top 10 steakhouses in Singapore on Tripadvisor. The dinner is a premium sharing steak dinner for two with free flow of wine for two hours.  Choices include a one-kilogram dry-aged US Black Angus bone-in rib eye; 500g Australian Wagyu sirloin and 500g Marine Stewardship Council-certified Boston lobster; and one-kilogram whiskey-aged Rangers Valley Wagyu Tomahawk.
