Tianjin is currently hosting the World Economic Forum's annual meeting from Tuesday to Thursday,  which will cast the spotlight on innovation under the theme "Shaping Innovative Societies in the Fourth Industrial Revolution".

China is home to a fast-growing tech sector that includes the likes of Alibaba, Ant Financial, Baidu, Tencent and Xiaomi; it has nine of the world's top 20 tech giants, according to an annual report by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers partner Mary Meeker.

The Summer Davos, or annual meeting of the New Champions 2018, is expected to ring in its largest turnout. More than 2,000 politicians, business people from Fortune 500 companies and rising start-ups, scholars, young scientists, culture and media representatives from over 100 countries and regions will be in attendance. 

Established by the World Economic Forum in 2007, the Summer Davos Forum is held annually in China, alternate between two port cities of Tianjinand Dalian.
